Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the US.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States.
One person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease.
About 659,000 people in the United States die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every four deaths.
What damages the heart?
What causes heart inflammation?
Did you know that sugar affects your heart function? The most significant source of abnormal cholesterol is not fat at all — it’s sugar!
The sugar you consume converts to fat in your body. And the worst culprit of all is high fructose corn syrup.
Consumption of high fructose corn syrup, present in sodas, many juices, and many processed foods, is the primary nutritional cause of most cholesterol issues.
Protect your heart by avoiding sugar!
Toxins that trigger inflammation and cholesterol:
Chemicals in processed foods/preservatives: Certain preservatives — such as artificial trans fats and high fructose corn syrup — raise the bad LDL cholesterol in the blood. When this imbalance occurs, cholesterol can accumulate in the gallbladder and the bloodstream, causing gallstones and plaque buildup.
Mold: Toxigenic molds release mycotoxins that affect human health and could impair cholesterol metabolism. Individuals exposed to them might be at risk of cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, and stroke.
Heavy metals: High lead levels and mercury in the blood can cause high cholesterol levels. In a study, those with the highest levels of these metals in their blood.
Parasites: Recent studies have shown elevated levels of lipoproteins like HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol in patients suffering from parasitic infections, although the exact reason is still unknown. Cholesterol is synthesized in the liver, an important site of parasitic infection. The thought is that parasites can take the lipids and cholesterol they need to survive from lipoprotein particles in the host’s gut.
Cholesterol is NOT the bad guy!
Cholesterol provides structural integrity to your cells. Cholesterol is found in every cell membrane in your body, where it helps regulate the flow of substances into and out of your cells. Porous, weak cells cannot maintain a healthy balance within the body.
Simply put, cholesterol as a dietary nutrient is a vital component of a healthy body!
What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in all the cells in your body. Your body needs some cholesterol to make hormones, vitamin D, and substances that help you digest foods.
Cholesterol is considered a vital nutrient. Unlike fat, protein, and carbohydrates, cholesterol cannot be used for energy, but it is a vital structural and functional component of your body’s metabolism.
Cholesterol Myths
Cholesterol Facts
Cholesterol is one of the raw materials used by the body to heal wounds. This means that cholesterol will be found in areas such as the arteries where damage has already occurred due to consuming processed foods such as refined sugar and grains. Therefore, cholesterol’s role in our arteries is a healing substance, not a damaging one.
Cholesterol is a precursor to steroid hormones. This means that for your adrenal glands to produce enough stress hormones such as cortisol and for your body to make enough of the sex hormones estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone, you must have ample amounts of cholesterol available.
Your intelligent body regulates your cholesterol levels. You can manufacture the cholesterol in your liver to use along with your dietary cholesterol. As your consumption of dietary cholesterol increases, your liver reduces its production of cholesterol. The body requires dietary cholesterol intake because it cannot form all the cholesterol needed to meet its metabolic demands. The majority of your cholesterol, though, is made within the body.
How to improve heart health!
Diet plays a significant role in heart health and can impact your risk of heart disease.
Your heart must have the proper nutritional support balance to keep the correct rate, rhythm, and tone.
Eat a healthy diet; eat leafy greens, berries, avocados, fatty fish and fish oil, nuts, beans, garlic, seeds, olive oil, to name a few. Avoid all trans fats, canola oil, soy oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, corn oil and peanut oil.
Supplementing with Vitamin B might decrease cardiovascular risk.
General B Vitamin Facts:
B Vitamins primarily: Convert carbohydrates to glucose, improve fat, protein, and amino acid metabolism, normalize nerve function, prevent fatigue and stress, relax the nervous system, bring energy to most body systems.
Primary areas of influence: Skin, hair, eyes, liver and its hundreds of intricate processes, mucous lining from mouth to anus, muscle tone for GI tract and heart especially.
